Hand-made from Yorkshire sandstone and finished with textured panels, the square base rises and tapers to a smooth pyramidal top.
Daylight loves this obelisk. The twisting surfaces orientate themselves towards the sunlight in strange and subtle ways. Sometimes there is a sharp delineation between light and shade, and at other times light very gradually changes to shade on a surface.
The obelisk is supported by a separate square base which is 10x28x28, and will really impress displayed in planting.
This was the first twisted obelisk I ever made. A lot larger and more complex versions of this sculpture were commissioned for the Thurlstone War Memorial in Yorkshire and for Braywood War Memorial in Berkshire.
