This series of glass garden sculptures is known by the artist as Fractaala ©. They are made using layers of melted coloured glass which are drawn out into long cane like strips, which are then cut down into smaller pieces, known as Murrini. These are then arranged into a pattern and finally fused together and annealed.
These sculptures look fantastic either standing on their own in for example an area of lawn, or placed carefully amongst planting. They bring colour to the garden all year round, and really pick up the light when the sun shines through them.
The garden sculpture are set on steel stands, finished with a black metal paint and can be spiked into the ground.
This set of three I have named after Les Gilis an archipelago of three tiny islands in Indonesia. The Gili Islands are known as Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Floating in a turquoise sea, with golden beaches and fringed with palm trees, they are a little tropical paradise. Offshore are beautiful coral reefs, whilst nearer in you can swim with turtles. Although even in paradise there are dangers! Off the largest island, a sunken ship sits at Wreck Point!
Even if for some reason you choose not to buy these, you might still be tempted to visit the islands!
