Cold cast in Bronze Resin from an original Crank clay sculpture. The cast is finished by hand so each one has it's own unique surface patination and variances in colour.
Bronze resin is a durable material suitable for outdoor use and low temperatures. The surface will react with the weather and can develop verdigris to give a weathered look. Should you prefer, the surface can be cleaned occasionally and protected with a thin coat of beeswax.
The sculptures are made with a threaded nut encapsulated in the base where a threaded rod can be screwed into the base and the sculpture can then be fixed into a pedestal or pushed into the ground to give it stability.
My sculptures are organic abstract forms inspired by nature and more specifically the seashore near my house. Shells and seaweed washed up on the beach, mixed in with drift wood and tumbled vegetation. I wanted to recreate the shapes, curves and textures I could see every day by sculpting using clay. I experimented with textures sometimes adding sand and grit found on the beach.
