Hand carved from fine grained sandstone which was quarried at Glossop in Derbyshire
The sculpture forms a continuous shape which changes from a rectangular base to horizontal diamond shape at the top
It is provided with a 40 x 960mm stainless steel rod, which should be firmly secured to keep the piece in the correct position. Help and advice can be provided to assist with this.
Much of my sculpture is based on a love of mathematics. With this sculpture, I was exploring the fundamentals proposed by August Möbius in the 19th century. It was he who showed that if a flat plane is twisted and curved the result will produce a single continuous surface.
