This amazing half crescent shape sculpture seems to balance quietly on its metal base plate. From the side it starts wider at the bottom, narrowing as it rises but then widens out again, with a gentle curve all the way up, finishing at a thin straight point where front meets side, then a sloping curve down again widening all the way to where one corner lifts slowly.
Made from 304 grade stainless steel with a brushed finish. It sits on a black square metal base plate with holes in each corner to allow for screws or fixing pegs to provide added stability.
David prefers not to set an edition size, but remember these are all handmade, so the number he can produce is very limited. They also tend to vary slightly one from another so could almost be described as unique.
When making this I wanted to catch the balance between movement and shape which when together form beauty. Consider a ballet dancer or a gymnast. Watch a leopard run or a bird fly. See a leaf drift down or a cloud float overhead. I have tried to capture that in one moment.
