Undulation is another of Kara's lockdown creations. First available in 2021, she again seems to have come up with a stunning garden sculpture with alluring twists and curves.
It's one of those pieces where the shape immediately draws you in, you then start exploring for from different angles, and you notice yet more subtle turns. I think you probably get the idea. I quite like this one!!
This has been cold cast in bronze with resin verdigris wax patination. Standing at 66cm high without the base it is large enough to command a presence, but compact enough to be very special. As with all Kara's modern metal sculptures they are as welcome in the house as the garden.
The piece comes without the base shown, but there is an encapsulated nut at the bottom so it can be mounted onto a stand of your choice. (Yes, I know, I'm sorry! Seems to be a bit of bird dropping on the third photo!)
I live a short distance from the sea near Brighton. I've always loved to wander along the beach, either on my own or with my young family. I find so much inspiration for my work from the sea.
In this case, I was trying to capture the mesmerizing movement of the sea, when it is comparatively calm but rolls back and forth on the shore.
It is always exciting when a new piece of sculpture is first cast. Before that you've only ever seen the piece in clay. So I was really please when I first saw this. I hope you like it too.
