A ceramic stoneware piece with differing areas of rough and smooth textures are decorated with an oxide wash and porcelain slip, and are defined by a continuous carved line.
The piece is left to dry slowly then fired twice to encourage the vitrification which gives it the glaze.
Each sculpture is hand-made, so no two will be exactly the same, but each will be similar in colour and size
In Chinese philosophy Yin Yang is used to describe how opposite forces unite to form a dynamic where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Both forces are dependent on each other and have been brought together here to form a complete globe reflecting the sun and the moon.
