Created with a mild steel frame sprayed with black Hammerite paint. The leaded glass panel is fixed to the frame with lead clips.
The sculpture is welded onto a 40cm x 40cm mild steel base to be sited on a level surface.
The weight of the piece and size of the stand allows it to withstand most weather, but if exceptional winds are forecast it would be advisable to protect it.
Having travelled a bit on the south and south-west coast of England in the past couple of years, I have taken a lot of inspiration from the magnificent scenery there: how land meets the sea and the sky, rocks that overhang or reach into the sea, and objects that link water with land and people. In this piece I wanted to capture the moment a yacht is leaving the marina.
